On October 1, 2025, the Conference to Commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Inner Mongolian People’s Party was held at the Japanese Parliament Senate Building on the occasion of China’s National Day, as a deliberate gesture to send a message to the Chinese government. The conference was hosted by Mr. Khuvisgalt Khereid, President of the Inner Mongolian People’s Party, and attended by distinguished guests, including His Excellency Elbegdorj Tsakhia, former President of Mongolia, as well as Japanese parliament members, representatives, scholars, and human rights advocates from Japan and abroad.

Ms. Sanae Takaichi, President of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and President of the Japanese Parliamentary Alliance for Supporting Southern Mongolia, sent a special congratulatory message to the event.

In her message, Ms. Takaichi stated, “Looking back on history, countless Mongolian people have continued their struggle, enduring unimaginable hardships and sacrifices to preserve their language, history, culture, and values, and to uphold the pride of their nation.”

She also expressed strong concern over the continued human rights violations in Southern Mongolia under Chinese Communist Party rule, saying, “Even today, I cannot help but feel deep indignation that the oppression by the Chinese Communist Party continues in Southern Mongolia… Let us strengthen our unity to uphold universal values such as freedom, the rule of law, and fundamental human rights.”

Ms. Takaichi’s message emphasized Japan’s moral responsibility to stand with oppressed peoples and reaffirmed the Alliance’s commitment to working together with the Southern Mongolian community for freedom and justice.

During the event, President Khuvisgalt Khereid presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the Japanese Parliamentary Alliance for Supporting Southern Mongolia, led by Ms. Takaichi. The certificate expresses, “The Inner Mongolian People’s Party extends its sincere appreciation to the Alliance for its unwavering support for the Southern Mongolian cause in the Japanese Parliament.”

The same message from Ms. Takaichi was also presented at another conference held on October 9, 2025, in the Japanese Parliament House of Representatives Building, as part of a series of events commemorating the centennial of the Southern Mongolian freedom and independence movement.

In response to Ms. Takaichi’s statement, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun criticized Japan’s engagement, saying, “Politicizing and weaponizing human rights issues in order to vilify China and hold back China’s development is doomed to fail.” The remark underscores Beijing’s sensitivity toward Japan’s growing involvement in international human rights advocacy concerning Southern Mongolia.

Message from Sanae Takaichi, President of the Parliamentary Alliance for Supporting Southern Mongolia

October 1, 2025

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary commemoration of the movement for freedom and independence against the oppression of Southern Mongolia by the Chinese Communist Party, I would like to extend my heartfelt greetings.

Looking back on history, countless Mongolian people have continued their struggle, enduring unimaginable hardships and sacrifices to preserve their language, history, culture, and values, and to uphold the pride of their nation.

Even today, I cannot help but feel deep indignation that the oppression by the Chinese Communist Party continues in Southern Mongolia. While the actions we can take here in Japan may be limited, there is still much we can do: to raise our voices together, to make more people, regardless of race or nationality, aware of this grave issue, and to inspire their concern and solidarity.

Let us strengthen our unity to uphold universal values such as freedom, the rule of law, and fundamental human rights.

We sincerely hope that the path toward freedom and happiness for the people of Southern Mongolia will open wide, leading to a bright and prosperous future. Together with all members of the Parliamentary Alliance for Supporting Southern Mongolia, I pledge to continue working alongside you in this cause.

Sanae Takaichi

Member of the House of Representatives
President, Parliamentary Alliance for Supporting Southern Mongolia
