Commemoration of the 4th anniversary of the opening of Florida Splendid China
On Saturday, the 27th of December 1997, members of Citizens Against
Communist Chinese Propaganda (CACCP) once again gathered in Kissimmee,
Florida to demonstrate against the communist Chinese government owned and
controlled theme park known as Florida Splendid China.
At the main gate, standing with the flags of the US, Tibet, Eastern
Turkestan, Inner Mongolian People's Party and the Taiwan Independence
Party, the demonstrators waved at passing cars and greeted the many signs
of support with cheers. During other times, the calls of "Free Eastern
Turkestan", "Free Tibet", "Free Southern Mongolia" and "Independence for
Taiwan" and "Boycott Splendid China" were clearly heard throughout the
surrounding area. After an hour and a half in front of the main gate, the
demonstrators moved to the corner of US 192 and Formosa Gardens Blvd. As
they stood near the two multi-colored dragons which mark the turn-off for
the propaganda theme park, the demonstrators again stood with flags and
signs which read "FREE TIBET - STOP THE GENOCIDE", "FREE SOUTHERN MONGOLIA
- STOP THE GENOCIDE", "FREE EASTERN TURKESTAN- STOP THE GENOCIDE", and
"JUST SAY NO TO CHINESE COMMUNIST PROPAGANDA-BOYCOTT SPLENDID CHINA".
Traffic conditions seemed perfect, stop and go traffic allowed enough time
for motorists to read the signs, but yet hundreds, if not thousands, of
people had the opportunity to read them. Most heartening were the many
signs of support from the passing cars. In a driving rain, after an hour,
the protestors reluctantly ended the demonstration.
This demonstrations marks the twenty-first since the theme park opened and
marks the beginning of the fifth year of operation for the propaganda theme
park. Citizens Against Communist Chinese Propaganda expect a banner year
for activities against the only foreign government owned and operated theme
park in the United States of America. Upcoming activities includes a
conference on Eastern Turkestan to be held in Clearwater, Florida on the
17th of January in cooperation with the International Taklamakan Uighur
Human Rights Association (ITUHRA). The next protest demonstration at the
theme park is tentatively scheduled for the 14th of March 1998 to
commemorate the 49th anniversary of Tibetan Uprising Day, when tens of
thousands of Tibetans rose up against the invading Communist Chinese
People's Liberation Army.
