CACCP PRESS RELEASE: December 10, 1996
December 10, 1996
Human Rights Day
Citizens Against Communist Chinese Propaganda will be holding a protest demonstration in front of the Communist Chinese propaganda theme park known as Florida Splendid China in Kissimmee, Florida beginning 9AM on Sunday December 22, 1996. A press conference will be held at 10AM to allow our friends from the Southern Mongolian Freedom Federation and our Tibetan friends coming from South Florida to make statements on the current situation in their occupied countries, their thoughts on the inclusion of the non-Han Chinese exhibits at the park and answer any questions.
Our demonstration is being held to show our support for our Tibetan, Eastern Turkestani, Southern Mongolian and Chinese friends under Chinese Communist Party (CCP) domination.
In the last year, massive arrests campaigns and 'crack-downs' in the People's Republic of China (PRC) have sent thousands to prison, hundreds to be executed and forced millions to endure yet another year of occupation and cultural genocide.
We call on our elected leaders and representatives to respect the human rights of our friends in the PRC. We demand that the imposition of Most Favored Nation status be relinked to human rights and some meaningful incentive provided to ensure that respect for human rights is started and continued.
We demand that our elected leaders and representatives:
- Officially recognize Tibet, Eastern Turkestan, and Southern Mongolia as occupied nations.
- Pressure the Communist leadership in the PRC into negotiations with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
- Look into the plight of Gendhun Choekyi Nyima, the real Panchen Lama, and seek his immediate release.
- Look into the plight of Ngawang Choephel who has been in a Chinese prison cell for over a year for documenting his native song and dance.
We also are demonstrating to call for a ban on school-sponsored field trips to Florida Splendid China. Florida Splendid China has been shown to be part of the Chinese Communist Party's Propaganda machine here in the state of Florida and it is unthinkable that our children are subjected to this propaganda without refute. We demand that school-sponsored field trips be stopped until the 'minority' exhibits are removed or re-labeled.
We also wish to applaud the recent decision of the Walt Disney organization to 'Just Say No' to Beijing's not-so-veiled threat about the upcoming movie, 'Kundun'.
Citizens Against Communist Chinese Propaganda is a group of interested individuals devoted to the non-violent and legal removal of religious and minority exhibits from the Communist Chinese government owned and operated propaganda theme park known as Florida Splendid China in Kissimmee, Fla.
