CACCP Statement 4/12/00
In response to the recent rumors about the sale of the Florida
Splendid China theme park to a British firm, Citizens Against
Communist Chinese Propaganda would like to once again state our
position.
Our efforts have never been about the park's ownership, only about
the false and misleading information concerning Eastern Turkestan,
Inner Mongolia, and Tibet.
Collectively united as Citizens Against Communist Chinese Propaganda,
we have continually attempted to speak with the theme park's
management about the removal or re-labeling of the exhibits since the
park opened in December 1993. They have yet to respond to any of our
correspondence. As a consequence, we have demonstrated over thirty
times in front of the Florida Splendid China theme park, created
web-resources, and spoken out about Chinese Communist propaganda.
We continue to remain open to communications with the Florida
Splendid China theme park and it's owners.
As the turnover of the park's ownership is anticipated within two
weeks, we will go ahead with the demonstration planned to commemorate
the anniversary of the Chinese Communist takeover of Inner Mongolia
on April 29, 2000. If reasonable and substantial negotiations have
started prior to that date with the owners of the Florida Splendid
China theme park, we will of course cancel.
Jack Churchward, Coordinator
Citizens Against Communist Chinese Propaganda
Citizens Against Communist Chinese Propaganda is a group of dedicated volunteers who are against the inclusion of 'minority' and religious exhibits at the Chinese Communist Party owned and operated Florida Splendid China theme park in Kissimmee, Florida. Specifically, we are protesting the inclusion of the Potala Palace that was built by the Tibetan people and served as the home of successive Dalai Lamas since 1645, the Id Gah Mosque and Tomb of Abakh Hoja which serve as cultural icons of the people of Eastern Turkestan and the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan and the Mongolian Yurt exhibit which attempt to add a Chinese name to the Southern Mongolian people.
