Letter to Mr. Yang

August 30, 1996

Mr. Guang Yang
Chairman, Splendid China
3000 Splendid China Blvd.
Kissimmee, Florida 34747

Dear Mister Yang,
To commemorate the forty-seventh anniversary of the Chinese Communist takeover of the independent nation of Eastern Turkestan, Citizens Against Communist Chinese Propaganda will be conducting a protest demonstration at the main gate of Florida Splendid China on the 13th of October 1996. The inclusion of the replicas of the Id Kah mosque and Tomb of Abaugh Hoja, cultural icons of Eastern Turkestan, while the PLA maintains a stranglehold over the people of Eastern Turkestan is blatant propaganda. The people of Eastern Turkestan desire freedom and democracy, not the continued domination of the PLA. We will continue to tell the story of the Eastern Turkestani people, as well as the Tibetans and Inner Mongolians, because the story told in the theme park is not the reality that most of these people experience.
As in the past, we intend to conduct a legal, non-violent demonstration to call attention to the propaganda nature of Florida Splendid China as evidenced by the included statements concerning some of the replicas.
As support grows for our cause here in Florida, more school districts are added to the list banned from your gates, more organizations release statements against your establishment and the protests grow more frequent, we remain convinced that our position is both true and correct and our enthusiasm to realize our goals remains undimmed. I hope that we can come to some resolution before it has gone to far.
We still wish to speak with you at your earliest convenience to discuss the removal or relabelling of these replicas to settle the differences between us.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Jack Churchward
