Letter to Mr. Yang

August 10, 1997

Sunny Yang
President, Florida Splendid China
3700 Splendid China Blvd.
Kissimmee, Florida 34747
Dear Mr. Yang,
Once again I am writing to inform you of our next protest at the main gate of Florida Splendid China.
Starting at 9AM on the 12th day of October 1997, members of Citizens Against Communist Chinese Propaganda (CACCP) from around the United States of America will gather for a peaceful, legal protest demonstration to commemorate the 48th anniversary of the Communist takeover of Eastern Turkestan.
We object to the inclusion of the Potala Palace as a 'Chinese' exhibit and it's implication that the Tibetan people are happy living under the boot-heels of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and People's Liberation Army (PLA).
We object to the inclusion of the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan exhibit, which falsely implies that this great Mongolian was somehow 'Chinese' or that Mongols are 'Chinese'. Likewise, we object to the inclusion of the Mongolian yurt exhibit which implies that somehow this truly nomadic life-style is 'Chinese'.
We object to the inclusion of the so-called 'Tomb of Xiang Fei', which is called by the Uighur people of occupied Eastern Turkestan, 'Tomb of Apak Hoja'. This cultural icon of the Uighur people is a monument to the great leader, the misleading title provided in your theme park removes this association and attempts to place a 'Chinese' label on it. Likewise, the Id Gah Mosque exhibit attempts to inform the visitors that this structure, unlike any other mosque inside the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a Chinese structure.
We recognize that the purpose of Florida Splendid China is to provide the current Chinese Communist Party (CCP) propaganda line concerning the lands that it occupies. The park is used to show that Tibetans, Uighurs, and Mongols are happy to be part of the People's Republic of China (PRC), when that is simply not the case. The park attempts to show that Uighurs, Mongols, and Tibetans have been 'Chinese since ancient times', this is, as well, a fabrication.
As always, we stand ready to talk about the exhibits with either you or a third party at a time and place of your choosing. Our efforts have only gained momentum and very soon we will engage in the second phase of our campaign to remove the disputed exhibits. Please communicate with us so that the baby is not thrown out with the bath-water.
Sincerely,
Jack Churchward
